Brashear Suspended 6 Games...

Donald Brashear has been suspended for 6 games. One game was for his pre-game shove of Colton Orr, the other 5 for intending to injure Blair Betts.

This makes his intent to injure only 5/6th of the seriousness of Sean Avery's comments about Hollywood actress Elisha Cuthbert, you know, the girl in her underwear from Old School.

From Colin Campbell: “It is also my opinion that the hit was delivered late and targeted the head of his opponent, causing significant injury."

So for getting two suspensions in one game, Brashear was given 6 games, or, to him, 18 minutes.

  1. Brashear has played 13 minutes so far this series. I think the Caps will be okay.

I would also like to point out that they were very quick to suspend a relatively inconsequential player in Brashear. But do you really think they'd give a big-name player the same suspension? What if that were Ovechkin? He might get a game, if that. I still think about Gary Roberts punching a concussed Johan Franzen in the head during last year's Cup Final as the refs (and Colin Campbell) looked the other way, and I'm convinced there will never be a level playing field.
