Bruins...

BRUINS POST by ZACH

Influx of posts tonight. A thousand apologies from my family to yours.

Anyway, this link is courtesy of Jeff in Boston, a devoted Bruins, Patriots, and Red Sox fan (basketball is the retarded gay cousin of sports) who hasn't changed his away message in years.

It's a YouTube video of a cell phone clip of Marc Savard scoring in overtime in Game 3 of the Bruins/Canadiens series earlier today (technically yesterday). Pretty bad ass crowd reaction. It actually gave me chills.

And having a good hockey team in Boston would be awesome post-lockout (they were real good in 01-02 and 03-04 but no one in Beantown cared).

  1. I forget if it's true or not, but I remember hearing that the Fleet Center (assuming that's what it was called then) was showing Game 7 of the 2001 Cup Finals on closed circuit so that Boston could see Ray Bourque win the Cup. I also remember hearing it was sold out, and that Bourque brought the Cup to Boston on his day with the Cup and there was some kind of parade. I think Boston fans do care about hockey, but they're so jaded from years of crappy ownership that it's hard for them to get into it. Besides, all their other teams are too damn good these days, and the Massholes can't support anything less than a championship team.

  2. They did indeed have a victory parade for Ray when he brought the Cup back.

Game 4 was awesome in every way but the outcome.

So proud of the Bruins this year, even if they lose this round they can count that their season as a victory.
